Staying healthy is great for your self-esteem and self-image. You can maintain a healthy lifestyle by looking after your body and doing what is right for it. Reported personal well-being had improved every year since the financial year ending 2012 when data were first collected, suggesting that an increasing number of people in the UK are feeling positive about their lives. There are many little changes that you can make to your day-to-day life to ultimately improve your health and wellness!

1. Drink lots of water – hydration has a major effect on your energy levels. Mild dehydration can impair mood, memory and brain performance.

2. Go walking – walking at least three times a week for up to 30 minutes keeps your heart healthy. A little fresh air never hurt anybody!

3. Yoga – practising yoga has profound benefits. You can access to tonnes of videos for beginners on Youtube. Yoga reduces stress and stimulates lymphatic flow. You can start by doing just ten minutes a day and gradually increase as you improve.

4. Do something that makes you happy every day – participate in your favourite hobby, eat your favourite food, visit your favourite place! Do something that you love every day to boost your happiness.

5. Enjoy your sleep – aim to get 8 hours of sleep a night to feel refreshed the following day. Depression, weight gain, stress, and even food cravings can all occur when we don’t get enough rest which are all things we want to avoid!

6. Good food – eat balanced meals and avoid fatty snacks. Drink a smoothie or eat an apple when you want a snack. Treat yourself to your favourite meal occasionally and don’t stop visiting your favourite restaurant but try to eat more nutritious meals to avoid feeling lethargic.

7. Socialise – spend time with your friends and your family. Laugh, smile, cry. Feel emotion! Go to the cinema with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Go to a bar for a few hours a week and socialise with anyone! Talking to and getting to know people is a great way to feel good and have a smile on your face!
